Welsh Language Standards
The Welsh Language Standards promote and facilitate the Welsh language and ensure that the Welsh language is not treated less favourably than the English language in Wales. As a public body, the council is fully committed to and is legally bound to comply with the Welsh language standards.
When we are consulting about a new policy or about revising an existing one, and when we are undertaking research to help us to make a policy decision, we need to think about the impact on:
- Opportunities for people to use the Welsh language; and
- Treating the Welsh language no less favourably than English
When we talk about policy, we mean decisions that we make which relate to how we do business and our courses of action.
