At Wrexham Council, we are committed to listening to the people of Wrexham.

Good involvement means that everyone in our community knows that they can join the discussion about the Education services that we deliver. It also means that everyone, including children and young people, can have their say to help shape the future of Education in Wrexham.

We are currently consulting on the proposal to establish a new specialist provision for pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).

Has a Welsh Language Impact Assessment been carried out?

Will learners be able to access Welsh in the new school?

Why has the name ‘Copa’ been chosen?

Why has the current site been chosen?

Will there be any outdoor space for the pupils to use?

Will there be specialist staff working on site?

Will the school and team be National Autistic Accreditation?

Will school drop off/pick up times be staggered with Rhosymedre Primary School?

Where will staff members/visitors park?

Will children from the Plas Madoc area go there?

Will a child need a neurodivergent diagnosis?

Will a pupil require an Individual Development Plan (IDP) to attend?

Will this provision only be for Wrexham County Residents? Or will the provision accept pupils from other counties?

What are the maximum class sizes?

What transition planning is in place for the pupils leaving COPA?

Will the school offer catch up literacy and numeracy lessons as part of the timetable?

Will there be subject specific rooms? (e.g. science, cooking etc)

What will the offer look like in terms of the curriculum? Is this school aimed at pupils with learning delay or academically able or both?

Will the school have clinicians onsite such as Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapy, Educational Psychologist, Therapists ect?

Will this detract from the funding mainstream schools have? Who is funding the additional cost? How will the new provision be funded?

Will the new school be subject to budget cuts like all LA schools in Wrexham?

Are there any more ALN projects in the pipeline?

Will the number of pupils who can attend increase in the future?
