Henblas Street Area Public Realm Consultation

Wrexham Henblas Street, Hippodrome site & Chester Street public realm scheme.

Wrexham County Borough Council (WCBC) is seeking to commission public realm designs to maximise opportunities on Henblas Street, Hippodrome site and Chester Street within Wrexham City Centre.

The vision for this area within Wrexham’s city centre, is to ensure that the proposed designs create a multi-purpose, higher quality & enjoyable daytime and night-time economy that appeals to the people that live, leave and work in Wrexham.

Enhancing the existing Henblas Street, Hippodrome site & Chester street, by creating new public realm and spaces to reinforce a coherent & authentic sense of Wrexham’s identify, attracting and encouraging greater public use, is fundamental to the design. Embracing the Smart cities approach to a digitally enabled city centre is key to the all of the public realm design. The proposed designs will broaden the inclusiveness and sociability of the city centre with inter-generational, accessible and cultural improvements. The proposed public enhancement for these areas, will add variety to the current hospitality/ day & evening and night time economy area and support food and drink businesses through the use of the new public realm spaces.
