
Consultation on the Dee Valley Federation of Schools
Decision Notification
Following the meeting of Wrexham County Borough Council’s Executive Board on Tuesday 12th May 2026, we can confirm that the proposal to discontinue Froncysyllte Community Primary School with effect from 31 August 2026, or sooner should pupil numbers fall to zero, was approved.
The reasons for this decision were:
- To explore options available to the Dee Valley Federation of schools and ensure sustainability in the immediate future.
- To provide the most effective and efficient education services for pupils.
- To ensure that the Council complies with its duty to monitor the demand for school places and ensure viability of the school estate.
The objection period for this consultation is now closed.

Following consultation, the Council will consider whether the preferred option should be implemented.
This is your opportunity to ask questions and make comments that will be considered by the Council's Executive Board, who will decide how to proceed.
The formal consultation period will begin on 23rd September 2025 and will end on 7th November 2025.
